CP PRODUCES 3 MILLION BAGS OF MAIZE

CENTRAL Province (CP) has produced over 3 million bags of maize in the just ended 2022/2023 agriculture season.

And Province Permanent Secretary, Milner Mwanakampwe says the province will therefore be able to supply two Million bags to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA).

He told ZANIS in an interview in Kabwe that the province has been allocated to supply 100 metric tons which he said translates into two million bags of the grain.

Mr. Mwanakampwe has since urged farmers not to sell their maize to private buyers who are offering lower prices.

And, Mr. Mwanakampwe has warned people involved in the smuggling of maize and mealie- meal that they will be dealt with.

He disclosed that the truck which was last week impounded for attempting to smuggle 1,200 by 25Kilogram bags of mealie -meal has been handed over to the Zambia Revenue Authority, where the owner has been officially charged. - ZANIS
