Kanchibiya District receives all the quantity of D Compound Fertilizer

Kanchibiya District of Muchinga Province has received all the D Compound Fertilizer required for the current 2022/2023 farming season under the government Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).

Kanchibiya District Agricultural Coordinator, Rainford Hara, disclosed to the National Agricultural Information Services (NAIS) that 16, 590 bags (829.5 metric tonnes) of D Compound Fertilizer was already in the district and ready for distribution to the FISP beneficiaries adding that 24.6 percentage of the maize seed requirement had also been received.

Mr. Hara revealed that the delivery of the entire D Compound Fertilizer requirement for Kanchibiya District under the current FISP programme will enhance timely planting and application of basal dressing fertilizer.

And a check by NAIS also revealed that Mpika District had, of Thursday midday, received 397 metric tonnes of D Compound Fertilizer while Shiwang’andu District had received 62 metric tonnes of D Compound Fertilizer.

Meanwhile, Mpika Senior Agricultural Officer, Charles Simukoko, disclosed that Western Seed Company has so far delivered maize seed for 1000 FISP beneficiaries adding that new farmers were being added to the FISP programme and that, farmers were currently depositing their upfront, Four Hundred Kwacha (K400.00)contributions.

And Shiwang’andu District Agricultural Coordinator, Moses Mulenga, also disclosed that 58 percentage of maize seed and 8 percentage of groundnut seed under FISP has already been received in Shiwang’andu District.  

MrMulenga has since suggested that the available seed and D Compound Fertilizer be distributed to the farmers coming from distant places so as to facilitate for timely planting while the Urea fertilizer can be distributed later, after its arrival.

He added that the distribution of the available seed and fertilizer will also create room in the warehouse for the rest of the inputs that are yet to be delivered in Shiwang’andu District.
