Happy new year! I'm so excited for the year 2020, I have so many exciting plans and recipes for you. As per tradition, the first three months will be simple budget friendly meals seeing that most people have to recover financially from the festive season.
I thought I could kickstart the year with a breakfast meal, also known as the most important meal of the day. Breakfast is such a difficult meal to prepare, at least for me who is usually in a hurry. French toast is common breakfast meal, but have you tried French toast sticks? Give it a try this new year.
Happy 2020 once again and may God bless you.
INGREDIENTS
2 large eggs
2 tea spoons brown sugar
pinch salt
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tea spoon ground cinnamon
1/2 tea spoon vanilla essence/extract
4-5 slices bread (cut into thick rectangles)
oil
METHOD
1. Turn on your stove to medium heat.
2. Cut bread into equal sized rectangles (thick sized).
3. In a bowl, add cinnamon, brown sugar, salt, vanilla essence/extract, milk and eggs. Mix well.
4. Place your pan (preferably non-stick) over the preheated plate add1 table spoon of oil and allow to heat up.
5. Dip the bread into the egg mixture for a few seconds (it shouldn't be completely soaked).
6. Place bread sticks into the pan and cook for about 2 minutes on each side or until a nice smoky brown.
7. When ready, put them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil. Serve warm and enjoy!!
CHEF TIPS
Dunk bread in the egg mixture only for a few seconds just enough to coat them. Do not let it soak up the eggs in order for the bread to hold its shape and not break.
Use a little oil. You might not even need to add extra for the next batch (if you are using a nonstick pan)
