...."Seldom set foot in your neighbor's house- too much of you, and they will hate you..." Proverbs 25:17 (NIV)

After making this drink, you'll probably be quoting this verse to the many friends and family frequenting your home. If you've been following my articles you'll remember my kawawasha juice from two years ago. Well, this year comes with a twist.  But first, let's remind ourselves about this lovely fruit.

Kawawasha (a.k.a tamarind, Musika) is a tropical and indigenous African sour fruit rich in vitamin C and possesses many health benefits. This fruit can be eaten directly but also makes a great drink, marinade and chutney. It can be found at almost every food market.

Give this drink a try today, you'll definitely feel refreshed with the heat.

INGREDIENTS

Handful of kawawasha (remove from pods if shelled)

1 small fresh ginger root (washed, peeled and grated)

1.5L water (room temperature)

Sugar(to taste)

Ice cubes (optional)

METHOD

1.     Bring a handful of the kawawasha and grated ginger to a boil in 1.5 L of water for about 45 minutes.

2.     Allow to cool down completely. This can bedone overnight.

3.     Place in the refrigerator to chill before serving.

4.     Add sugar to taste as desired. Enjoy!
